Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority (MBTA subway — "the T")

  • The John Hancock Tower is accessible by Public Transportation via subway or "the T". The various subway routes are color coded (Red, Orange, Blue and Green). You can take the Green Line, or the Orange Line to get to John Hancock Tower. If using the Green Line, you exit the T at the Copley station at the corners of Boylston and Dartmouth Streets. Note that the Green line branches into several different lettered routes (B, C, D, & E). Copley is on the "trunk" route, so that all Green line trains serve the Copley station. If you use the Orange line, you exit the T at the Back Bay station, which is "behind" the John Hancock Tower relative to both the main entrance and the Charles river. The Back Bay Station is both a subway station and a Commuter Rail Station that principally serves points to the West and South.
  • Most subway fares are $1.25, and free connections can be made while still in the subway system. Trains run usually every 5 - 10 minutes. For more information on schedules, fares, and new "T" services, visit their website at www.mbta.com
  • If you wish to take a taxi, simply ask to be taken to the John Hancock Tower.
